Lent: Entering the Desert with Christ
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Let us pray for one another as we enter this holy season of repentance, renewal and reflection. I have included in this post (see bottom of this post) a guide to download regarding our Lenten journey. It is free. When you go to download, use the price of $0.00 to get your free copy.
I like to think about Lent as an invitation to walk in the footsteps of Christ, who, in the wilderness, faced temptation not for His own sake but for ours. The Catechism (CCC 540) reminds us that Jesus' victory over Satan, the Tempter, reveals His true identity as the Messiah—not one who seeks power, comfort, or spectacle (as Satan suggests), but one who humbly submits to the Father's will.
Christ calls us this Lent to reject the illusions of the world and embrace the way of trust, obedience, and self-giving love. Through fasting, prayer, and almsgiving, we enter the mystery of Jesus’ forty days in the desert, learning to rely not on earthly securities but on the Word of God, which alone sustains us. In our struggles, we take heart, knowing that Christ has already overcome, and in Him, we find the strength to persevere.
I created Lent: Journey of Transformation with the desire to help you walk a holy and intentional Lent—one that goes beyond routine observance and leads to real spiritual renewal. This guide helps you embrace the heart of Lent through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, drawing you closer to God and shaping you into a more faithful disciple. Whether you're looking for practical steps or deeper reflection, I hope this journey will inspire you to open your heart to God’s transforming grace and experience the true joy of conversion.
